Divine Must Be Stopped Now!!!!!!
Ok so Its been a while ago since I've posted a blog, but It has came to my attention that Desmond Divine Houston AKA Shawn Divine Houston is still on the lose, scamming not only models but people in the entertainment industry tremendously!!!! Awhile ago I posted my story in a modelmayhem forum that went exactly like this:
I'm Sharika Ellis, and I was scammed by Desmond Divine Houston AKA Shawn Divine Houston AKA Sass Magazine CEO. He's a professional scam artist that every model should be aware of. He ripped me off of 400$ and I havent recieved any of it back....I decided to share my story to MM as well.
In November of 2010 I was contacted by Desmond Divine Houston about being apart of his agency. Through our phone conversation he told me about how I had a fantastic look, and how we could get some great things started. He told me about all the money that I could be making with him. Then he told me how he did have a retainer fee of 800$. I almost dropped the phone at that moment but then he explained how I could do payments.
After we got off the phone, I did do my research, I couldnt find his name anywhere, and I mean nowhere! Other than some record deal he had in 1991. Now I did find another model once i googled his email, and she had just signed and told me to talk to Irene The Dream.
Little did I know, I wasnt chatting with Irene the Dream, I was chatting with him!(I found that out later). After having that conversation with her/him I signed the contract and sent him my 1st payment of 200$. Later on I sent him 100$ then 100$ in cash once I got to Atlanta to do a photoshoot.
A little after I left Atlanta I was contacted by a model who told me her experience with him and told me that it was something that I did not want to do, but not only did I stop talking to her, I was contacted by photographers and other models who have dealt with him and have been ripped off a few hundred to thousands of dollars.
I posted this forum so that other models wouldnt make the same mistake. I did not recieve my money back and neither did they. He makes up an excuse everytime I ask him for my money and tries to act silly to the whole idea that hes a scam. He should be in jail.
I posted my story there and on another website titled thetruthindeed.blogspot.com. I cant believe how many people have came to me since then claiming to have been ripped off by so much money. I talked to a girl the other day who was ripped off and another girl tonight! I know a grand total of 12 people who have been ripped off by this man and I feel that he's been doing this for way too long to not be stopped by now.
Im gonna make this clear people that this guy is bad news!!!!!! The last time I talked to him he pretended to be begging that he was down on his knees, and trying to find ways where I could take down my posts off the internet. He even offered me 1000$ to take the stuff down and keep my mouth shut, but Im not giving in. My 400$ dont mean shit compared to the money he could've gotten If I would have never posted my story.

For My Aspiring Models
Since I’ve started modeling, which was only a year ago, I’ve had numerous amounts of girls ask me how I got started modeling, how they could do the same, and is there any advice that I could give them to help them along the way….
With me only being a model for a short amount of time, it’s kind of hard for me to tell someone what they should do and how to do it because I’m still tryna figure this out myself. So these are just some things that I’ve done and some of the things I’ve learned along the way.
For one, no matter how much I model, I always try to keep my real job and my education first. I cant say that I haven’t been distracted somewhere along the road because I love to model more than I love sitting in class all day! Lol! But for the most part I feel that education is one of the most important investments you can make, and modeling doesn’t have a set amount of income.
Networking and building your portfolio is a key that I found necessary to let people know who you are and that your serious about getting somewhere in the modeling world. I got started by finding a photographer in the local area to take some photos of me, I submitted them to a couple agencies, which didn’t get accepted, but I kept pushing so I joined modelmayhem.com (which could be a complicated process for many), and began networking and shooting with photographers to start me off on my journey. Along the way I’ve done too many photoshoots to count anymore I’ve worked with close to 20 photographers (some of them more than once) in this close to 1 yr period.

Some of the things I’ve learned are that some men are not professional!!!!!!! I would say names, but I didn’t make this blog to put people on blast (although I should ;-))..Maybe at a later blog :-). So if you’re a model who is not sure of a photographer then bring an escort such as your friend or sister who won’t get in the way, won’t ask a million questions, or ask to see the picture when the photoshoot is in session. Many photographers hate that. When I started modeling I didn’t take anyone with me to shoots because I felt that I would be too shy around my homegirl or sister, so it would be best for me to go alone, but I’ve learned now to get references (use Google) some men who I’ve shot with have tooken advantage of me going to shoots alone by trying to touch me or consistently asking to take off more of my clothes than what I wanted. Even though that’s horrible it’s still not as horrible as the models who’ve gotten raped, so this is serious shit!!!!!!! So if you’re not comfortable of going to shoot with a photographer by yourself then bring a friend, and if the photographer says no then ***k him!!!
Well I guess this is it for now, I know I’ve missed a lot of things but this is all the time I have for today if you have any questions please hit me up on my facebook, twitter, or modelmayhem and I’ll be sure to fully explain it for you
